These
companion x-ray films demonstrate Paget's disease of the pelvis and,
in the same patient, severe degenerative arthritis of the left hip.
After treatment with calcitonin to suppress his disease activity,
the patient had a total hip replacement, which relieved his painful
hip symptoms. Other surgical procedures that may be used in Paget's
disease include total knee replacement, tibial osteotomy, laminectomy,
occipital craniectomy, mandibular reduction, and fracture stabilization. |
