Sarcomatous
degeneration is the most serious complication of Paget's disease of
bone, however, it occurs in less than 1% of patients. Not all tumors
are sarcomas; metastatic cancer has been seen to metastasize to pagetic
bone, and hematologic malignancies may also occur. Occasionally Paget's
disease can be complicated by benign or rarely malignant giant-cell
tumors. |
