hyperparathyroidism? Primary hyperparathyroidism is a hormonal problem which occurs when one or more of the parathyroid glands produces too much parathyroid hormone. When this ocurs, blood calcium is elevated and bones may lose calcium. At present, there is no approved medical therapy for primary hyperparathyroidism. Surgical removal of the affected gland(s) is a cure for most patients. |
