The Paget Foundation website is for educational purposes only and does not render medical advice. The information on this website should not be used to diagnose or treat a health problem or disease. It is not a substitute for professional medical care.
The Paget Foundation logo is adapted from an illustration included in a paper written in 1877 by Sir James Paget, the eminent British surgeon, who first identified Pagetís disease of bone. This design represents an osteoclast (the bone cell that resorbs or breaks down bone) which has produced the irregular surface of bone. Thus, the logo illustrates the first process in Pagetís disease, bone resorption.

Several diseases were discovered and named by Sir. James Paget. In addition to Pagetís disease of bone, there is Pagetís disease of the breast and Pagetís disease of the vulva. Though these diseases share the same name, they are completely different conditions. This foundation provides information on Pagetís disease of bone only. (See Related Links)
